#1.001: Breakfast Pastry

Hi there!  Welcome to Mary Elizabeth’s Sock, my new webcomic that I can legitimately claim has been twelve years in the making.  I began drawing webcomics in January 2000, and it really feels like everything has been leading to this point.  I honestly believe these strips will be the best comics I’ve ever written, and the best I’ve ever drawn.  I hope you’ll agree.

If you like what you see, please tell everyone within earshot about it.  Or just use the “Share” button under the comic to link the strip on your social network of choice.  Thanks, and I hope you’ll come back every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for more.

OMG, an actual literate, well-drawn webcomic with clever dialogue, interesting stories, three-dimensional characters and a responsive writer/artist! Officially a fan.

Love the “BORK” sound effect. And Flint’s strut in Panel 1 makes me laugh.

I’m starting to get the impression that naming the comic “Mary Elizabeth’s Bork” wouldn’t have been the worst idea.

Wow, I just have to namedrop colleges to get readers? Everyone in this comic is officially getting university t-shirts now, in every single panel.

      (Thanks!)

Colleges are good. Fine dining such as Whataburger is also a plus.

Just this first part. It then veers off into different territory entirely.

I like how the header provides a glimpse of her viewpoint. Will this be a recurring thing, or does the header settle into something else once MESS gets established? (I’ll be watching…)

I doesn’t always reveal a particular POV, no, but the header will change with each story.

“Bork” is possibly my favorite onomatopoeia.

That said, it seems to me that Basil here has just stepped into one giant MESS.

Half the reason I chose that acronym was for the stupid pun potential.

That place looks suspiciously like the one from the recent version of Basil Flint.
